Document Imaging is hitting the headlines!!! Banks and other financial institutions
are investing heavily in digitizing critical documents
and storing them on CD’s. Although this is making waves lately, document imaging
is really a well understood technology
whose application in the business area is becoming pervasive due to the improving
price/performance of high speed scanners, the large documentary
requirements of business transactions and legal prescription.
The pioneers in business imaging started off as a business continuity
requirement by storing copies of critical documents into CDs. A
master CD is kept and
multiple copies are burned to be shared to other users. Little or no effort
was spent in indexing documents for access. This also raised the issue of document
versioning and security.
MANAGING ENTERPRISE CONTENT
Our solution can store and index documents and images and have them available
to IBM 3270 users, thick client or browser clients. Information in these reports
can be extracted and incorporated into Web pages creating dynamic content.
The archive supports EBCDIC or ASCII reports, scanned documents, HTML web pages
or XML data islands. Archives can be moved to CD for long term storage. Database
records can be offloaded to as separate historical file.
